Have I ever mentioned that pavlova is my all time fave cake/bake/dessert/patisserie? No. Well, now you know. Pavlova is my favourite sweet.
Despite me not having a sweet tooth. Believe it or not, this foodie skips dessert every once in while. Except for when dessert is pavlova. Or meringue. Or macarons. Or pandan cake. Or Indonesian layered cake. Okay, let just say I’m quite picky when it comes to desserts and sweet stuff. But that’s not really the case.
Pavlova… A while back I had a huge need for it. But… It was a Tuesday morning, slightly passed 8.30 am and I’m supposed to be at the office around 9am. So no time for pavlova. And yes, if there was time, I am the kind of person that would actually bake a pavlova at 8.30 in the morning. But I had to face the fact that there was’nt time and had to think of an acceptable pavlova substitution.
I open the fridge. Strawberries? Check. Kiwi? Yes. There’s even a passionfruit laying around. Now there’s only one thing left. Will it be a fruit salad or a breakfast bowl? You guessed it > bowl.
Put together in a bowl:
- 2-3 heaped tbs Greek yoghurt
- handful of strawberries, sliced
- 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
- pulp from half a passionfruit
Voilaaaaaa, pavlova-ish breakfast bowl. And no worries, I will someday post a genuine (and many takes on) a pavlova recipe. Pinky swear.
