Sometimes you just ought to go out for a nice cup of coffee. Maybe just because the weather is nice or because you’re in need of some good ol’ quality time. Or maybe just because. And so we (the bf and me) found ourselves in The Cake Room of Grand Café Krasnapolsky the other day.
Actually, we’re regulars at their cocktailbar The Tailor already but we thought it might be nice to see the the venue in broad daylight, lol.
The hotel on Dam Square was restyled recently and reopened in April 2016. I have to say, the restyling is on point. The Grand Café feels modern, elegant. Spacious with high ceilings with a lot of light. Very stylish and trés Parisien. As is all the pastry that have been calling my name from the display (which is the actual Cake Room) ever since I stepped through the door. Ofcourse I give in, coffee and something sweet for us Dutchies just go together. I see little cakes, muffins, little macarons, big macarons… Cookies, pastry, chocolates… Meringues… I’m stressed out because I can’t pick what to eat. We decide on a macaron, a madeleine and signature cake. A ristretto for the BF and I’d like some tea. It was more than okay, considering we we’re only there for coffee and q-time. We will have to come back for lunch sometime ;)
After paying we dived into a bookshop around the corner. While browsing the cookbook department we completely lost track of time. Pretty nice Sunday afternoon I reckon.
